We normally take our 4 year old son in to see Jamie, but she was not working this week and my son needed a haircut before school picture day this week. I booked an appointment with Ashley and my husband took him in this morning for his haircut. When they got home, he was very disappointed. He said Ronda cut his hair and was making unintentional degrading comments about our son during his haircut. Our son just happens to have Down Syndrome, but Ronda felt it necessary to tell my husband that it was a blessing he wasn't aware of what was going on around him because it keeps him comfortable and easy going while he gets his hair cut. She also said....Miracles happen. He may just talk one day! While she may not have meant these to be hurtful comments, my son is very intelligent despite being non-verbal and knows over 300 signs in ASL. She also talked to him like a baby the whole time. I'm sure she didn't mean to condescend to a 4 year old, or to imply anything negative about his being different - and perhaps this is more of a generational thing - but it was disheartening nonetheless. We'll be coming back, but will make sure we stick with Jamie in the future.

The lady that cut my sons hair was rushing because they were busy. She did not take off as much as I requested. She knocked my sons ear and he ended up screaming for most of the cut. I don't think I'll be back

Today's hairstylist was not good. She was complaining about kid moving and didn't interact with kid nor cared. It's a kid salon and she needs have empathy towards kids. Didn't talk nicely with adults too.

The woman who cut my daughter's hair was extremely rude to her. We've been coming to cookie cutters since she was 1 (she's almost 7) and have never experienced such rudeness. She kept complaining her hair was so tangled. We'd brushed it in the morning but it was 6 pm … She plays a lot at school and was probably wearing a hat, hood etc. The woman said she should cut it all off, and that is not an acceptable thing to say to a 6 year old. My daughter was upset later last night that the woman had threatened to cut all her hair off. Your job as a child's hairdresser should be to be polite and calming to a child and take their hair as it is, offering kind tips on maintenance, not berating them.

My daughter has some sensory issues, which I mentioned in the notes when I booked the appointment. We ended up not being assigned to the stylist I had booked for online, so I don’t know if that had any impact on the situation, but the stylist we ended up with conveyed an attitude of annoyance with my daughter’s issues and didn’t provide any helpful tips or advice for how to manage a child with sensory issues. I find it hard to believe that a salon that specializes in children’s haircuts would have stylists who aren’t skilled in handling children of all kinds of levels of development/on spectrum. In the end I essentially had to hold my child in a vice grip while she gave a very basic haircut that I feel I could’ve achieved at home if I had had my husband hold her down while I did the haircut myself so it doesn’t seem like a $27 well spent in my opinion. Perhaps if the child is Neurotypical and doesn’t mind having the cape on and their hair combed, this stylist probably does a perfectly fine job.
