Hoa is great, was patient and spent a good portion of time answering my many question about styling long curly hair. I know since I am growing out my hair, I won't be back for ~6 months... but when I need to I will be coming back.

Coming from living the better part of a decade on the east coast and getting my hair cut in cities like Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Boston where barbering and taking care of people’s hairstyles was an esteemed profession; moving back home to Denver has been a pretty arduous and almost painful experience trying to find a similar hair cutting experience. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve met some pretty good barbers; but, I truly care about my hair as a part of the package that I present to clients and partner companies, so I need more than just a “good barber.” Salon Joa is hip and modern in its aesthetic and from my one 40(ish) minute sit down with Hoa (the barber who cut my hair), and my interactions with a few of the other team members, I will definitely be back. Professionalism and friendliness are a pre-requisite, in my opinion, for any business in the service industry. So I always walk in expecting that and Salon Joa checked those boxes immediately from my initial impression walking in as well as the hospitality at check in. But this is a review about a salon, and for me that’s the simple part: not only is Hoa (which then leads me to believe the rest of the team as well) an experienced barber with the kind of confidence and vision to cut hair with ease yet of the highest quality of which I’m used to coming from the East Coast, but there was something new and exciting that should be noted to any would-be Denverite who’s looking for a new salon to check out. Not the ultra urban city barbershop I’m used to going to, Salon Joa had a certain Denver charm that withheld from being an overly pretentious and “new” shop that looks misplaced at its Colfax location. I was shocked to here the salon had been there for about four years and I’m committed to making sure That no one else in my circles are ignorant of their presence. I have sisters and am already planning my next visit with them in tow! Great first visit, and looking forward to being a regular at this local gem!
