The barber did a good job showing my kid the clippers before each use, so he could feel them. She'd ask if it was okay and he'd affirm. That was great. Being brand-new and walking into Cookie Cutters, though, was like sensory overload with no discussion or orientation. Cartoons were automatically turned on, when he cried and fussed a bubble machine was engaged. It's not like the cartoons helped when he would take crying, "Mama pick up!" breaks. I just would have liked the barber to explain to us what was going to happen, then she could have said, do you like cartoons, etc. I know it's different way of treating kids than when I grew up, but my kid get a lot explained to him and seems to do well with that. Again, as a first-timer, I think the experience should be more kid-centric. He's never been to a salon and this one has a slide! So, if our barber greets him, points stuff out ("you can do slide after haircut!") and gets him onboard, I think he would have done better. The selection of cars and a balloon were nice perks. The haircut was good, but she didn't even ask his name. Finally, the price was kinda high. :-/ For what it's worth, I feel a little silly giving this feedback, but you asked and i had a minute to answer.
