Although we were right on time for our appointment, we happened to be in the last time slot of the day at 4:45pm. The hair professional was very clearly in a rush to get our haircut done and out the door by 5pm. The haircut was horrible! We have never had such a bad haircut experience at cookie cutters. We typically get a nice haircut and that is why for 3 years, we have made the hour long round trip drive to get our hair done here. The lady did not listen to my son about wanting to leave his bangs long-now he has a very uneven very short bowl cut type bang-which is different lengths on each side of his face. She didn’t take the time to even out the top or blend it in-she just shaved very quickly and roughly. She left his bangs dripping wet plastered to his forehead and didn't even attempt to style it or double check her work. My son practically ran out the door to the car crying. He wore his hoodie hood over his head for the whole rest of the night; He didn’t want to go inside his favorite restaurant we were going to for dinner afterwards, to celebrate his best ever report card. He was so distraught, he talked about not being able to go to school for the next 2 weeks because he will get bullied. Haircuts can be very important to kids. My suggestion is to not have the last appointment at 4:45 if hair techs are expecting to leave at 5. That is NOT enough time to do a quality haircut and clean up and be out the door at 5pm when the shop closes. Also, this tech needs to be talked to about this lack of service-really, she did a disservice, and it can cause a huge emotional fallout, as well as bullying because of her carelessness.

My son’s haircut took almost 45 minutes and it’s terrible (we waited less than 5 minutes and his 10:15 haircut wasn’t done until nearly 11:00). The cut was not what I asked for and the lady who was cutting (don’t remember her name and I’d never seen her before) knew that she’d done a bad job. At the end she said “Do you want me to blend this side more?” because there was an obvious line in the fade, but the entire thing was so bad that I didn’t want her to do anymore damage so I said “No thank you.” When we got home, I realized his hair was even worse than I’d originally thought. I’ve been bringing my son here for about 4 years but I don’t think we’ll be back.

The service was fine but I am really upset that the girl that cut my sons hair was sick and coughing everywhere. You’re establishment obviously has young children in there constantly and I would really not like my son to get sick from one of your employees. I don’t know if I will come back.

Response from Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids

I am so sorry that you felt your stylist was coughing on your child. We have talked about this situation in our staff meeting. In her defense, she was sick a couple of weeks before and was just dealing with a lingering cough that won't go away. She said she forgot her cough drops that day and that her throat was extremely irritated. I will get some cough drops to keep at the salon to help my stylists in this situation. We hope you will come back again and see us. :)

Hi, I love that there is a kids salon close to our home. My kid loves going. Unfortunately the past few times I’ve made appointments, I’ve had to wait quite awhile before getting him in his chair. Today we had to wait 50 mins after our appointment time! This makes me not want to return which is sad because I like the concept of your salon. Just thought you should know. I’ve had a few friends with similar experiences there as well. The other issue is that I would have liked to have more work done on his hair but felt rushed and felt bad for the other parents waiting.

Response from Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids

I sincerely apologize that you've had to wait for both of your appointments. We work really hard to stay on time, but sometimes kids are unpredictable and we never know which child is going to have a hard time during his or her haircut. We operate on "child standard time" and do our best to give each child the best haircut possible, even if they are screaming and having a hard time. Last Friday happened to be one of those days where we dealt with multiple screaming kids and it put us behind. I really am sorry that you had to wait so long. We are working hard to recruit more stylists to add to our team and that will hopefully create a more flexible situation when we are dealing with difficult children. We appreciate you coming back and look forward to seeing you again.

I asked for a fairly standard a-line style haircut for my daughter. When I asked the stylist to "stack" the back, she told me that she already had. She was on her phone for much of the cut and we received in quite a rude way when we arrived 15 minutes early (we were told they couldn't start us even though our stylist just sat behind the computer the whole time). Several days later, when I'd had a good look at the cut, I ended up taking my daughter somewhere else to have the cut fixed. I ended up paying so much for my daughter's cut - next time I will just skip the first step and go straight to a real professional.

First time I’ve experienced lack of professionalism and customer service, may have been an off day for them but felt like my business was an inconvenience to them. The receptionist had poor tip handling skills.
